Canines
RABIES VACCINE
We offer a one and three-year vaccine. It is required by law. Must be given by a licensed veterinarian. Rabies is almost always fatal to animals and people.
LEPTOSPIROSIS
Lepto is a spiral bacteria that wildlife carry. It is transmitted through urine and acute kidney and liver issues and can be transmitted to pets and people. This can also be fatal! Don’t drink the water… outside, that is.
CANINE INFLUENZA
There are two strains they have vaccines for, the H3N8 and the H3N2. We have not seen any of the H3N8 in our area, but the H3N2 has been in our area and still peaks its nasty little head up around the USA. If not recommended by boarding/grooming/dog parks, we highly recommend it! Though, like the human flu shot, it may not protect your pet 100%, it will help lower the severity of illness and has been known to prevent pneumonia in dogs that have contracted the flu. Plus, if your pet is vaccinated against the influenza and does become infected with the virus, the vaccine manufacturer will pay for testing and treatment.
DA2PV
Distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus. One injection covers a lot! The great news is that after the pet’s first year of age, the one-year vaccine has been proven to last up to three years.
BORDeTELLA
This vaccine protects against one pathogen of Kennel Cough. It is required by most boarding/grooming facilities and dog parks. We recommend it if your dog comes in contact with other dogs.
LYME
Ticks are nasty little buggers! The deer tick is the carrier of Lyme disease, which is known to cause fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, and joint pain. If your doggie spends lots of time in areas with a heavy tick population, this vaccine is a good idea. We also recommend using flea/tick prevention regardless of whether or not your pup needs the Lyme vaccine.
Felines
FVRCP
This stands for Feline Rhinotracheitis-Calici-Panleukopenia-Chlamydia Psittaci Vaccine. There is a whole lot of stuff wrapped into this feline distemper vaccine! For adult kitties, the one-year vaccine is good for three years.
RABIES VACCINE
We offer a one and three-year vaccine. It is required by law. Must be given by a licensed veterinarian. Rabies is almost always fatal to animals and people.
FELV
Feline leukemia is a virus that is transmitted through bites and scratches when kitties fight and one has the virus. It can also be transmitted from momma to kittens. The disease impairs the cat’s immune system and causes certain types of cancer. Those that go outside and have exposure to other cats of unknown origin should be vaccinated.
