Our Team

Craig Kragness, DVM, graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970 and joined the family practice, following his grandfather, father, and uncle’s footsteps, and now entering his 50th year of practicing medicine. Growing up on 63rd and Emerald in Englewood in Chicago, he worked at the animal hospital on Wentworth, helping his father and uncle until he left for the University. When he graduated in 1970, he worked alongside and was mentored by his uncle, Dr. Theodore Kragness. Craig’s love and compassion for animals and treating all clients like family is why Kragness Animal Hospital has survived 113 years in Chicago. Dr. Kragness is an early riser and gets to the hospital every morning by 6:15 am every day, lets out the boarders, and starts off his day reviewing any pet’s medical history that will be needing his attention. He enjoys going to the family cottage in Michigan with his wife and friends. Loves to fish and golf – neither very successfully.

Dr. Marisa Panozzo joined our clinic in January 2021. She is a 2005 graduate of Ross University. Before vet school, Dr. Panozzo graduated from Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University) and worked toward a master’s in environmental biology. She started working in the veterinary field in 1989 as a kennel attendant, later working as a technician. Since graduation, Dr. Panozzo has worked in general practice and shelter medicine, including a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. She lives with her dog and five cats.

She enjoys trying new restaurants, drinking lots of coffee, and taking long walks with her dog, Bean.
